Historical Disney Dolls by cutepiku Historical Disney Dolls by cutepiku
I've really been in a dolling mood lately, it seems.

Anywho, these are based off of Shoomlah's beautiful designs. It's the 10 main Disney Princesses (from the official line-up) dressed in dresses that are more historically accurate to their time lines!

I was in LOVE with Cinderella, Snow White, and Tiana's redesigns, so I had to make this. Unfortunately, Cinderella was fighting me and didn't want her foot to be seen, so she looks a little off.. and Snow White. Oh how me and her hair netting fought.

I was also a bit iffy on Ariel, considering the original drawing is a side-view. I basically guessed what it would look like from the front, and I'm rather pleased with the result.

I think, overall, my favourites that I drew were Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel. They look snazzy!

So, roll call, for those who need an update on their Disney Princesses!
Top Row: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Ariel, Belle
Bottom Row: Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel

And before anyone freask out, yes, I asked Shoomlah's permission. On Nov 11. 9 days of working non-stop.

i feel that Pocahontas and Jasmine are the least accurate. (yes, i know the designs aren't yours to begin with)
Pocahontas is a Native American woman, and normally, traditional women's dresses go down to the feet and the woman would wear mocassins and a shawl. Her hair would be tightly braided and maybe, just maybe, there would be a feather in her hair.
Jasime is a princess in an Arabic culture, which would most likely be Muslim. Now, you could say that her designs for the 'historically accurate' stuff are based off of Indian culture, but Aladdin takes place in a place like Dubai or Saudi Arabia, where Muslim women would wear a full burqa which would cover everything but their hands and eyes, or at least wear a hijab and have their bodies covered. For example, in the film "Azur and Asmar", there is a young princess whose body is covered and wears a head scarf.

What the original designer did was track down outfits that bared a resemblance to what the princesses wore, and went from there. With Jasmine, she says she found these outfits in Persian culture, as they had midriff-showing outfits, poofy pants, and cute little jackets that worked for her top. But with the movie Aladdin, you can't really place it anywhere solidly. So I think she did her best there, although she does have plans to redo her.

With Pocahontas, she took her inspiration from her actual people, the Powhatan. She was based more off children than a woman, since historical Pocahontas was quite young when all this took place.

Either way, these are more trying to put historical accuracy in the princesses current designs, then redoing them in a 100% accurate way. And as you said, I didn't design them, I simply asked permission to pixel them, haha. So I'm not 100% on her design process, either.

Belle's eyes are suppose to be hazel, not green.

I know her eyes are supposed to be hazel, I just think she looks cute with the green eyes in this picture.

I never understood why Mulan was in the line-up at all, espeically when Kida isn't...Kida is a princess, and I'm pretty sure Mulan's not...

I know it has alot to do with Atlantis the Lost Empire not being all that popular, but still...

Oh, ignore me lol. Either way, these are cute! :D

It's basically a popularity contest with why certain people are on the Princess list.
Also, more people are Chinese than Atlantian, so she's slightly more relatable? lmao
